Matt Batters, J.D. has served as Chief Legal Officer since April 2024, having previously served as General Counsel since August of 2023. Mr. Batters oversees Apogee's Legal and Quality Assurance functions. Prior to joining Apogee, Mr. Batters served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Arvinas, Inc. where he led the alliance management team in supporting Arvinas’s strategic collaborations and was responsible for all legal and compliance functions. Previously, Mr. Batters was a Senior Director on the legal team at Alexion Pharmaceuticals (now part of AstraZeneca) supporting the business development function, where he was responsible for structuring and negotiating Alexion’s licensing, collaborations and M&A activities. Prior to Alexion, Mr. Batters was a corporate associate at DLA Piper and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he advised pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients on global corporate governance, capital raising and securities matters, as well as complex licenses, collaborations, and M&A transactions. Mr. Batters received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, an M.A. from the University of London and a B.A. from the University of Bristol. He is slowly learning Spanish helped along by watching soccer with Spanish commentary.
